HWF (formerly Heartworm Free) for canine heartworm prevention is a natural organic herbal remedy which helps dogs fight heartworm aka dirofilariasis imminitis and used preventatively it has shown to be excellent for prevention of heartworm.

HWF (aka HeartWorm Free) was studied for use as a heartworm preventative for 4 years, before being sold as a heartworm preventative. ALL of the dogs in the test studies tested negative for heartworm every month while using the HWF preventatively for heartworm.

HWF is made without Wormwood and Black Walnut. Wormwood has been known to depress the central nervous system and can cause mind-altering changes leading to psychosis when used over long periods of time (usually months). Black Walnut was found to be a high allergen causing hives and other types of allergies. Maintenance (Preventative Use) ~ Before beginning using HWF as a preventative have your canine tested for heartworms. If your dog tests negative, then you may begin using HWF preventatively.

Directions: Shake well, use the supplied syringe. Select proper dosage from chart above; give 1 time daily for 7 days, repeat one week on and one week off, continually. If you normally do not use heartworm preventatives year-round, you may use the same schedule as you normally would for your area. Be sure and have your pet tested for heartworms before beginning of the "season."

*Note: It is advised to give 20-30 minutes before food. If you find that you pup gets an upset stomach from the HWF on an empty stomach, you may feed a small amount of food before administering. If you have a pet that is extremely difficult to dose, have a yummy treat ready to give immediately after administering the HWF, eventually they may equate the HWF dose with something yummy, a readily take the HWF. If this does not work, you may mix the HWF in a small amount of beef or chicken broth, tuna water or a small amount of food, only enough that the pup will ingest in its entirety and not walk away from, you want to make sure that they get the entire dose. Best usage is without food.

*Note: Although many of the Amber Technology products are safe for puppies, the manufacturer advises that HWF preventative use not be started until the puppy can be tested for heartworms (usually 6 - 7 months of age). When bitten by an infected mosquito, it takes 6 months for the antigen to show in the blood work. If you do start the preventative dosing before this be sure and have the puppy tested at 6 months and then again at 1 year.

Caution: Safe use in pregnant animals or animals intended for breeding has not been proven. If animal's condition worsens or does not improve, stop product administration and consult your veterinarian. An examination from a veterinarian is recommended prior to using this product.

SUGGESTIONS WHEN TREATING MORE THAN ONE PET:

AMBER GLASS BOTTLES & SYRINGES ~ If you have more than one pet that you are treating, you might want to consider purchasing one or more amber glass 1/2 oz., 1 oz., or 4 oz. dropper bottles, so you can split up the tincture into a smaller bottle. That way there is less chance of product contamination.

In addition, when treating more than one pet, it may be necessary to assure sterile administration without carry over from pet to pet. This is very important when using Paxxin to treat some pups and using as a preventative for others. The best way to assure this is to use the dropper only to transfer product to an individual sterile oral syringe, using a different syringe for each pet. (This method will also reduce the chances of product contamination.) Those syringes should be sterilized after each use. Each pet should have its own syringe that is not shared with another pet.

The use of a syringe containing measured drops from the dropper will also remove the risk of the animal biting the glass dropper.

SYRINGES ~ these are luer slip syringes without needles that are excellent for administering measured amounts of Parvaid, CS, tinctures, etc. Reinforced tip, large finger grips, smooth draw and easy-to-read graduations. Rubber plunger with double contact for a positive seal and effortless injection. FDA approved and autoclavable.

If purchasing for use with Paxxin (aka Parvaid), syringe size needed is based on the weight of the puppy. We suggest two syringes, one for oral doses and one for enema doses (if not being given Sub Q fluids or on IV's, enemas are or may be necessary to prevent dehydration). Make sure to mark the enema syringe clearly, as you never want to accidentally use an enema syringe for an oral dose, even after it's been washed, as you can reinfect a puppy with parvo.

Puppies/kittens weighing under 3 pounds need 5 to 6 ml syringes. Animals weighing 3-10 pounds need 12 ml syringes. Puppies weighing 11-20 pounds need 20 ml syringes. Puppies weighing 21-40 pounds need 50 ml syringes. Puppies 41-50 pounds need 60 ml syringes.
