We use NaturVet MSM for natural effective relief of inflammation and pain issues. MSM has properties similar to aspirin, without the possible aspirin/ibuprofin and similar aspirin side effects. I personally take NaturVet MSM on a day I plan on "killing myself" (you ALL know what I'm talking about here!!) - i.e., digging post holes, pouring concrete, putting up lots of fencing and a day or two afterwards to PREVENT feeling the aches and pains I would normally feel from the overwork.
Pure MSM is also an excellent natural solution for post surgical inflammation and pain. Make sure to keep an eye on your pet or animal as pure MSM can reduce pain too well causing the animal, pet, or person to over exert, so if you notice your pet or animal exercising too much after surgery, back off on the dose or remove it altogether, so they will settle down, feel the pain, and rest like they need to.
We have a 95 lb. female canine rescue who had a fatty tumor the size of a small lime on the inside of her thigh. It pulled the skin on her thigh so tight it needed to be removed as it was affecting her health - she quit eating and she is always a voracious eater. The mobile vet removed it, putting 6" of stitches to close it. That afternoon, I dosed her with Bentonite Clay (to remove toxins from the anesthesia), Vaccination & Wormer Detox (again, to further remove toxins from the anesthesia), Colloidal Silver (natural antibiotic) and MSM. That same evening she was fence fighting with the other girls leaping 8' off the ground...it wasn't until the following morning, just after she had consumed her second MSM dose and was running and fence fighting again that it dawned on me she was TOO pain free! It is our recommendation for sudden or immediate pain issues to double the recommended MSM dose, as advised by the manufacturer, giving divided doses 3 times daily for maximum effectiveness for a week or two. Then reduce the dose from 3 times daily to only 2 times daily. If pain relief is maintained, consider backing off the dose to once a day. If at any point in lowering the dose, inflammation or pain issues return, up the dose back to the previous dosage schedule. For temporary health issues, this helps to wean off the MSM, though there are many people, animals, and pets who take MSM 365 days/year to maintain ease of mobility and maximum health benefits.
Signs of overdose are loose bowel movements, so like vitamin C, MSM can be dosed to bowel tolerance if desired.
